NordicLink at the 3rd JTC1 workshop, Oslo, 7-10 June 2023

The 3rd workshop of the JTC1 – Joint Technical Committee on Natural Slopes and Landslides – was held last week at the Deichman library, Oslo, hosted by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute.

The 3rd workshop of the JTC1 – Joint Technical Committee on Natural Slopes and Landslides – was held last week at the Deichman library, Oslo, hosted by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute.

This year’s workshop had as its main theme the impacts of global changes on landslide hazard and risk and more than 100 people from 19 different countries participated.

During the 2 technical days, we had a good representation of NordicLink, with a total of 2 orals and 1 poster presented.

The contributions from NordicLink were:

  • “Advantages and challenges of advanced slope stability analyses” – presented by  C. Sellin, M. Karlsson, M. Karstunen (Chalmers University)
  • “Calibration of coupled finite element analyses for early warning system: the case of an unsaturated slope in Norway” – presented by J. Dijkstra, V. Mangraviti, V. Capobianco, L. Piciullo (Chalmers University and NGI)
  • “Meteorological Thresholds for Regional Scale Rockfall Early Warning in Norway” – poster presented by R. M. Palau, K. G. Gisnås, G. L. Gilbert, A. Solheim
